Sunny Days

Sunny days, chasing our blues away . . .We joined Jess, Adam, and Emmet in Pasadena for a last little visit before their big move. We were so lucky to have them so close by over the last six years.

When Kent and I moved to LA, we had no idea that Jessie would be moving to the area as well. It was awesome having her here through both of my pregnancies and the births of my girls. I've seen her get married, earn a doctoral degree, and evolve into an awesome mom. And while I will dearly miss getting to see little Emmet in the flesh so often, I am so grateful to have been able to watch him grow over the past year.

We are wishing you guys the best of luck in the coming months. We may be states apart, but luckily, our blogs are just clicks away. Cheers to new adventures and to taking the road less traveled!

Mr. Milo

Saturday evening, Sophie had her good friend Milo over for some fun.

Maddie took this picture of Milo and I.
Since Milo was the baby, he got the high chair. Sophie did a good job sitting in the big girl chair.

How's your wine, Milo? Sophie says, you better drink fast, it won't be too long before your Mama is back. Good times.

Easter Eggs

Maddie had her good friends Andrew and Ethan over for a little egg decorating Saturday morning.

Open House

Friday evening we attented Maddie's open house at preschool. Above, she shows us an insect center, and below, Sophie tries out the housekeeping.
We got our times wrong and showed up to open house 30 minutes early. So we killed a little time at Rite Aid. Sophie is going through a lovely stage where she detests shopping carts, strollers, and other confinements.

New York

Kent traveled to upstate New York last week to visit a good friend and his new baby. While there, he got a taste of winter weather. Brrrrrrrr . . . FYI, we had a rather balmy week in LA.

Bubbles

We are loving the time change!!! It's so nice to be able to play in the yard until almost bedtime.

Memory Lane

Here's Maddie at just 4 days old. The kid hardly slows down, even when she sleeps.

Pre-Blogger Playdo

Here's a little video clip I found that Kent took of Maddie two years ago. She was only two and half years old; its crazy how fast kids change.

Emmet's Birthday Bash

We had a great time helping Emmet celebrate his first birthday party. There were margaritas and a keg, what more could we want at 11:30 AM?

Here's Emmet pre-party. As you can see, he can hardly contain himself as the minutes tick by.

Hmm, maybe this pointy hat will help him understand the significance of the day.

Sophie having fun with party favors.

You know Emmet, you may be able to say more words than me, but I think I've got this eating thing down pat. Just try putting away more pizza than me, I double dare you.

More Pictures from Emmet's Party

This cake was as delicious as it was beautiful! There wasn't a crumb left, o.k., so there were three small pieces left, but someone dropped them.

Here is Emmet playing with one of his new toys, a train from his BFF Bryce.

Emmet, post-cake. Nuff said.

Maddie is an accomplished bubble catcher.

Baby Jonas

Isn't he a perfect looking baby? He's Ethan's little brother, the adorable curly haired guy pictured below.

Milo's Birthday Bash

We helped Milo celebrate his first birthday yesterday. The day reminded me of some winter artwork Maddie brought home that said "Cold Hands, Warm Hearts." We didn't let the rain dampen our spirits. Happy Birthday, Milo!

All of these pictures were taken by our friend and very talented photographer, Louis. Thanks for sharing!

More Milestones

It became apparent to me last night that Sophie is now able to climb into the bath tub unassisted. In preparation for her bath, I turned on the water, then when to gather her pajamas and a new diaper. When I returned, I found her already "bathing" with all of her clothes still on: pants, shirt, diaper, shoes (yes, her shoes, too). As you can see Maddie was quite amused. Actually, I was amused too, after I got over my initial surprise.
