The Arboretum

Jessie and I have arranged our summer schedules to allow for "get togethers" with the kids on Tuesdays and Thursdays. So, last Thursday we arranged to meet at the Los Angeles County Arboretum and Botanic Garden which is just about a 4o minute drive for both of us. We looked at lots of flowers and wildlife, especially some very friendly peacocks. Madeline looked at each one's leg tag, and the highest number she saw was 73. I have no idea how many peacocks are wandering around that place. We also saw geese, fish, turtles, and squirrels. Madeline said, "This place is just like the zoo; there are animals everywhere!" However, I think the highlight of the day was when this 75 year old-ish little lady asked Jessie if Emmet was wearing a Grateful Dead shirt. Too cute! We were there about two and a half hours and still didn't get to see everything.

Fun with Friends

I have been out of school for two days, and we've had two play dates already! On Tuesday morning, Madeline's friend from school came to play with play-doh and dress up. The girls had so much fun together that I said Ok to a sleepover, too.

Father's Day

After spending Father's Day morning at home with cards, gifts, and breakfast in bed for Kent, we headed to Riverside to see Aunt Jessie, Adam, Emmet, and Sawyer in their new house. After Kent and Adam golfed, we had a barbeque and the cousins played on the patio.

Celebrating

At this moment, I have many things to celebrate. Today is our 10th wedding anniversary. Tomorrow is my last official day of school with students. On Tuesday, I will be a full time mama (at least until September 13). I am soooooo ready to spend some time sleeping in, going to the beach, visiting the library, working out, cooking, baking, reading, relaxing, laughing, and staying up late with the love of my life.

Ms. Imaginative

Madeline's school held a young authors assembly today, and Madeline received the award for "most imaginative" for the story she wrote called, The Biggest Crop. Three students were recognized in each class: the best illustrator, the most imaginative, and the best story teller. You might recall that Madeline's story in kindergarten also won for "most imaginative." I am so proud to call this creative little thinker my own!

Madeline's Performance

Today was Madeline's musical theater performance at our local YMCA. It was so incredibly cute! I think my video is too big to post here, but believe me, it was adorable. The 6 and 7 year olds sang and danced to "We're All in this Together" from High School Musical. Although Madeline prefers to hide in the back, she had fun and was all smiles today.

Zoo Field Trip

I went on a field trip to the zoo with Madeline's class last week. With four sweet girls and three mamas in our group, the trip was a breeze.
