Corn Maze!

We celebrated my birthday a wee bit early, and what did I want to do? I wanted to squeeze in one last trip to the pumpkin patch. We ventured through the corn maze which turned out to be more difficult than I thought. We did have a map, and luckily, Kent was quite good at reading it.

This week, as usual, will be a busy one. I have parent conferences for my students all Thursday evening, Madeline's parent conference to attend on Friday, pumpkins to carve, and 2 Halloween costumes to complete. See you next week with Halloween pictures!

Saturdays and Sundays

Saturdays and Sundays are the best days of the week. Yes, partly because I don't have to work, but mostly because I get to spend all day reconnecting and spending time with my girls. Often during the week, we are so busy, things are so hectic, and my focus is getting homework completed and backpacks organized. But my weekends, my weekends are precious and all about quality time with my girls.

Saturday we tried another pumpkin patch with some of our best friends. The weather was cool and cloudy, and it felt like fall. Finally, fall!

As I mentioned, it actually felt like fall! Cloudy skies, drizzle, and cool breezes make for perfect baking weather! Saturday evening, we baked up some pumpkin muffins that were deeee-licious. They were so good that we only have a few left. Uh oh, just did the math: 18 muffins in 12 hours, 4 people, hmmm . . . weight loss not looking good.

Well, twelve more hours until bedtime. Better go enjoy the rest of my weekend with my babies because tomorrow starts another busy week.

Our Four Year Old Princess

We had a princess party on Sunday afternoon in honor of Sophie turning 4! I loved my arts and crafts table with magic wands and royal crowns to be made, but it was hot, hot, hot that day and most kids could only handle the heat for the crown making.

My girls pre-party: Sleeping Beauty and Cinderella:

I can't wait for my birthday so I can make this cake and frosting recipe again! So delicious if I do say so myself. I made them from scratch to avoid the hydrogenated oils that come in the boxed mixes and made a buttercream frosting that did not include crisco/shortening. Even Kent, who doesn't eat much sugar, had two. I wish there had been more leftovers.

They are arranged in a "four" . . . see it now, everyone?

A costume change and back outside later in the evening to sit with Prince Emmet:

Making some additions to her crown:

It's finally cool enough for wand making:
Thanks everyone for your generous and thoughtful gifts and for helping us make Sophie's day special. She was a happy little princess!

It's Pumpkin Time!

For the first time in at least a month, everyone was healthy this weekend! Perfect timing, too, because today one of my favorite local pumpkin patches opened! My girls and I had great time playing, eating, and picking out pumpkins together.

We came home and took out our festive fall candles and decorations and are ready to embrace the season. Aside from the fact that I don't work during the summer, which I absolutely love, fall has always been my favorite time of the year. Looking forward to another birthday, Halloween parades, and trick-or-treating in the weeks to come.

4 Years Old

Our little "Scrappy" turned 4 this week, and I feel as though I officially have no "little ones" underfoot anymore. Sniff, sniff.

We had a simple school-night celebration with cookies Wednesday evening in honor of her special day. Thanks to Sophie's fire safety lessons at school this week, she was too afraid to blow out her candle and proceeded to crawl under the table until the smoke cleared after Madeline blew the candle out for her. At least I know she takes fire safety seriously and that she is a good listener at school.

Stay tuned, we'll have some pictures to share tomorrow evening after our princess themed party planned for Sunday afternoon.

Sawyer Turns 1!

Seriously, how cute is this kid?

We spent a beautiful day in Claremont checking out Jessie's new digs and celebrating Sawyer's big day! It is hard to believe a year has passed already! Jessie and I made a cake together, and somehow, I didn't take a single picture of it. It was quite cute, though, I assure you.
