The DC Thing

We spent Sunday doing the DC thing, sight seeing. Did you know the largest anti-climate change rally took place today? Well, we did. Rather, we found out as we drove through the city in search of parking.

It was cold and blustery, typical of our DC adventures.  We went through several Smithsonian exhibits: dinosaurs, early man, and the live butterflies!

A butterfly hitched a ride on my coat!

Madeline, the Virginia Colonist

Madeline took part in our school's fourth grade colonial day! I was super impressed with the amazing job our school's parents did organizing this event. The kids wove baskets, strung beans together for winter, sewed potpourri satchels, made candles, ate colonial candy and cookies, and posed for silhouettes. I popped in throughout the day to snap pics of my girl.

Rewind

Rewind about three weeks.

Kyla invited the girls to attend a cheerleading clinic with her at George Mason University. I'm not sure how many girls were there, maybe 200? The Patriot Center was mobbed with girls! Surprisingly, we ran into one of my students! Madeline was excited to see her cousin and her jump rope team member! Sophie had fun, too! After a clinic, the girls performed a cheer and a dance during the half time of the women's George Mason basketball game.
