Winter Storm Watch

Saturday was a beautiful day. We attended our school's spring fair in the morning (hence, Sophie's punk hair and face paint), then headed over to the bay! Grandma and Jim were on the east coast, and we couldn't wait to see them and some sunshine.

Maddie and I wear the same shoe size. Just another few months, and she'll outgrow me for sure. Where do you think these long legs came from?

Did I mention we were under a winter storm watch when these pictures were taken? LOL, we'll see what Monday morning brings. Will there be school or snow?

Ready for Spring!

Winter is really holding on strong this year. Above, Sophie lounges around the morning of yet another snow day!

Despite the cold winter, we are preparing for spring. We are planning to expand our garden this year and make it bigger and better than last year. Kent got all the supplies to start our plants from seeds. We have planted 75. We're hoping to grow several kinds of tomatoes, cucumbers, zucchini, peppers, and herbs.

Winter Fun and Newfound Talents

Rebounderz, a large trampoline facility, is a very popular place for parties around here. Last weekend, we went for Madeline's end of the season jump rope party. The place has an arcade with one of those claw machine games. Madeline has been studying up on claw game strategies via youtube, and guess what? She actually won! She got two toys in one claw. Amazing!

This past weekend, Maddie had a friend from school over to spend the night. The girls made shirts in honor of our upcoming pi day festivities.

Then, Sunday, it was back to Rebounderz. Sophie was invited to a birthday party there, and Madeline got to tag along. She was happy to revisit the claw game, and she actually won three more stuffed animals! I told her these games were impossible and a waste of money, but she has proved me wrong!

Taxi Driver Stage

I have reached the taxi driver stage of life. The period of life where your free time is spent driving your children to sports, clubs, friends' houses, birthday parties, and school activities.  At the moment, we're wrapping up jump rope final performances and end of the season parties.

These pictures were taken at our school's spirit night. Maddie performed with the school chorus and jump rope team. Sophie hung out with her friends and my former students. As you can see, she is a social butterfly. My quiet little Sophie has turned out to be quite the little talker and friend-maker at school.

The girls also take gymnastics, on different nights, of course. Madeline takes a swim class and a dive class, and Sophie is taking piano lessons.

Kent bought Sophie this digital piano. I liked everything about it, except how it looked in our living room. So, Ralph made us a cabinet for it, and it looks so nice now!
