Summer swim team is off to a great start!! Madeline swam at yesterday's A meet. It was raining and 65 degrees. The weather was stinky, but Maddie was awesome! She placed third in freestyle, first in backstroke, and her team won the 100 medley (Maddie swam backstroke in the relay). It was very exciting!

Gymnastics
Between being a fifth grader, attending dive practice 5 days a week, and swimming 4 nights a week, Maddie squeezes in 90 minutes of gymnastics. Her current session is wrapping up, so we attended her show over the weekend. She did a routine on each event. Unfortunately, a certain 7 year old played with the video camera and erased everything. Even without the proof, Madeline did awesome!
After multiple youtube videos, I made her bun. It stayed in through everything!!

Accotink Regatta
We spent the afternoon at the annual cardboard boat regatta. Our school did not participate this year, and as a result, it wasn't nearly as much fun as last year. The girls enjoyed their snow cones, of course. Sophie had the best view in the park.
Weekend at Grandma's
Our weekend weather was glorious, so we headed to Grandma's for some fishing and swimming. We ate shrimp on the balcony, had drinks, and a great visit with Mom and Jim.
The Start of the Season!
Swim and dive started last Tuesday. Sophie said she wanted to swim 8 and unders this year, so she was tested and evaluated, and (Yay!!!) she made the team! She was thrilled to be able to swim on the team this year; however, I think the initial excitement is wearing off due to some pretty intense workouts. An hour of swimming five days a week might be a bit much for her. We'll see if she sticks with it.
Just like last year, Maddie is doing both swim and dive. She has two hour practices five days a week, and loves every second of it all! With both girls involved with pool teams, it means practices from 5:00 until 7:45 every school day evening. It's tough to squeeze in anything else!
