Thanks Grandma and Grandpa!

Grandma Mel and Grandpa Dean treated us to a fun and memorable day at Disneyland. Thank you! Thank you! What a wonderful time we all had.

Hold On Emmet!

What a sport! Aunt Jessie, Uncle Adam, and 30 week old Emmet enjoyed plenty of rides.

Lazy Morning

With all of the shopping and shipping completed, Maddie and I have decided that all of us girls will stay in our jammies all day. Here Maddie is making a fort for Sophie to "protect her from the bears."
It seems both girls now have similar schedules. They both go to bed between 8 and 9 pm, then wake up between 7 and 8 am. For the past 3 days, Sophie has only gotten up once, around 4:30 am to eat, so I can just about consider her "through the night."

Christmas Cuties

Some Family Pics

Jessie, Adam, and the Baby

Jessie and Adam visited today for an early holiday celebration. Here they are with their two babies: Emmet (29 weeks), Nyala (two years). Check out their present to Maddie this year; it is a bit larger than they thought. I'm fighting a losing battle for our living room.

Sprinkles

Madeline and I made Christmas cookies today. Madeline went a little crazy with the sprinkles while I tended to Sophie for a few minutes.

Dear Santa

Dear Santa,
I have been very, very good this year. Just ask my Mommy!

Mommy Moment

I tried to put Soph to bed in her big girl bed (the crib) last night, but she wasn't having it. After about 30 minutes, I moved her back to her bassinet in my room. Ok, I guess she's getting a bit spoiled!

It's Leroy!

Here's our first baby, Leroy. He's still around even though he doesn't get much blog action. Kent says I "kicked him to the curb" once Maddie came along; I guess he's right.

Our Patio

Kent has been working on building a shade arbor for the concrete patio we recently had poured. We still want to stain the arbor and plant some climbing plants around it. We also plan to replace our back window with doors and purchase some ourdoor furniture.

Shots Suck

Sophie had her two month appointment yesterday. She weighs 11 pounds, 8 ounces and was given a clean bill of health along with 4 shots. I am not sure who the shots are harder for, Mommies or babies.

More Photos

I wanted to share a couple of extra photos my mom sent to me today. These were taken at her condo in Maryland last Saturday.

Our First Trip with Four!

Kent and I packed up the girls and all their gear and headed to LAX last week. We had a wonderful time visiting friends and family on the east coast. Madeline and Sophie were excellent travelers, and Kent and I received multiple compliments regarding them on our cross country flights.

Cousin Kyla

We spent Thursday and Friday in Northern Virginia with Grandpa Ralph, Grandma Shirley, Uncle Blake, Aunt Jen, and cousin Kyla. Maddie loved playing with with her cousin.

Grandma Connie

We spent Saturday in Maryland with Grandma Connie, Uncle Josh, and Aunt Jenn and had a lovely early Christmas.

West Virginia

We spent Sunday with Aunt Dawn in West Virginia. The best part of the day for Maddie was the zip wire.

Christmas Cookies

On the last night of our trip, Madeline and Grandma Shirley made Santa Clause Christmas cookies.

Holiday Wrapping

Madeline helped me wrap presents today. I wonder who she wants to give her sister to?

Sophie

Sophie is eight weeks old today. She is around 10 pounds, we'll know her exact weight at her check up on the 13th. She has a little cold right now, but remains in good spirits. She has been sitting in her chair for over an hour while I caught up on some "work" on the computer. What a good baby!

Smiley Face

I can't get enough of that smile.

Pure Sweetness

I'll remind them of this moment in a couple of years when they start fighting like cats and dogs.

Rainy Weather

We had a rainy day in L.A. this week, and Maddie was super excited to wear her red raincoat. She's is not into smiling for photos anymore, but she couldn't hold back this time.

Tree Trimming

We spent most of Friday taking out Christmas decorations and trimming the tree. I think this is the first year Madeline will fully comprehend the whole Santa Clause concept. She says she wants a doll that walks all by herself.

All Done!

Madeline appears to be done decorating, but she's not. The Christmas tree is her new favorite toy and past time. She is constantly making changes and rearranging the ornaments.

The Holiday Spirit

Sophie joined the fun by sporting her new "Baby's first Christmas" jammies.

Thanksgiving 2006

We had to reschedule our trip east Tuesday morning when I came down with a terrible cold/flu Monday night. I had fever, chills, sore throat, stuffy nose, the works. There is nothing worse than getting sick when you're already exhausted from sleep deprivation and have a six week old to care for. Anyway, Kent went right to work. He did 99% of the Thanksgiving work, from the shopping to cooking our 21 pound turkey (yes, 21 pounds for 2 adults and a 3 year old). Luckily, we won't have to worry about preparing a meal for a couple of weeks with all of our left overs. In this picture, Kent is preparing the home made stuffing the night before with 2 superivisors and a photographer.

Maddie's Contribution

Maddie helped make the green bean casserole. I made the mashed potatoes, and Kent took care of everything else.

Madeline's Dinner

She asked if her special dinner was ready about a million times. Here is her much anticipated plate: made from scratch gravy surrounded by broccoli casserole, green bean casserole, mashed potatoes, turkey, and corn.

Clean Babies

Both girls got baths last night; evenings sure are busy. Sophie can now go a little over 6 hours between feedings at night (loving it!), and Maddie does her usual 11 1/2 (no more naps for her, though).
