Two Fishies!

Sophie snacks pool-side:

It turns out both my girls are fishies and love, love, love the water! I took the girls to my friend Natalie's house to swim today, and they really enjoyed it. I knew Maddie would, but after Sophie cried when her toe touched the Pacific Ocean, I wasn't sure she would be a fan of the water. Sophie loved being in her floatie and splashing around. By the way, Natalie looks amazing in her 34th week of pregnancy! Sophie was really taken with her.

Maddie wanted to try out the floatie, too. Funny- she really hated it at about 9 months, but now that she's almost 4, she loves it. I think Andrew thought she was a little ridiculous.

Two Babies!

Look, I have two babies!! Really, I have one baby and one amazing helper. Maddie has been an incredible help to us the last few nights. Sophie has been waking and crying about an hour after she falls asleep. It is very strange because I have always put her down for naps and to bed awake and happy and without a fuss. So, she has been falling asleep peacefully at 7, then waking with tears at around 8. This is very strange because we really haven't heard a peep from Sophie since she started sleeping through the night at 10 weeks. Anyway, around 8 is when Maddie usually goes in to sleep too. So, we told her she didn't have to stay in there if Sophie is crying, but Maddie says she would rather sing lullabies to Sophie than fall asleep in our bed??? Even stranger, right?? With Maddie's company, little Sophie goes back to sleep. Too cute!

Tonight, I decided I would delay Sophie's bedtime an hour to see if that helps. She fell asleep about 40 minutes ago, so I'll find out if this works in the next half hour.

During the day today, Maddie requested to play in the crib. I decided it might be fun for both of them and would make for some adorable pictures.

Lazy Summer Days

I have been home for almost a week with the girls. Yesterday we took them to a large pool built to look like a beach. We were a bit disappointed since the sand turned out to be gravel, and although the pool was enormous, it only went up to 4 feet deep. Great for kids, but not for adults. Today I took Maddie to Under the Sea, an indoor playground, for a couple of hours. I started repainting our hallway, with Maddie's help. She loved it.

Quick Pics

Maddie refuses to smile for the camera.

A closer look at Sophie's bad hair day.

Sunday at the Park

We spent the morning at the park with Carrie and Milo. It was a new park for Maddie, so she was well entertained.

John and Lindsay's Wedding

Saturday evening we attended the wedding of Kent's friends, John and Lindsay. It was a really pretty ceremony at a gorgeous location. Our kids looked pretty adorable in their dresses, too.

Maddie rearranges the flowers in the fountains while searching for "fishies."

Sophie being her usual sweetheart self.

The cocktail hour is just not the same with two little ones. . .

Groovy!

Here's Sophie with her new favorite hand-me-down. It's not the groovy onesie, that's new from Grandma Connie. Her new favorite place to play is Maddie's old bouncing horse. Whee!

The Graduate!!!!

Link

Is there a doctor in the house? Well, yes there is! My "little" sister's name is now followed by the letters: PHD!!! We are all so proud of her hard work!

You know, if you weren't such an over-achiever, your husband would have an easier time helping you with your outfit.

Here she is on her way to line up. Since she was seated on the platform, she was at the end of the line. It must be tough being so smart and beautiful at the same time!

Look closely, it's our little Jessie giving a commencement speech!! I was a bit in the back having to man my two kids and all, but I sure was one proud big sister!

Cherries Jubilee

All dressed up Monday evening for Aunt Jessie's big event!!!

Even More Father's Day Pics

Maddie discovers Cool Ranch Doritos, just try and pry the bag from her hands.

More Father's Day

Here is a picture me with my Dad.

Here's "little" Emmet. At 3 1/2 months, he is no light-weight!

Grandma Mel and Sophie

Sophie with Emmet's Grandpa. There is no blood relationship, but there seems to be a resemblance.

Daddy's Day: The Afternoon

We headed to Riverside so we could celebrate with my Dad, new Daddy Adam and his family. In the above picture Maddie dines on one of her favorite things, PBandJ, while Kent enjoys one of his favorites, you know what it is. We lounged in the yard all day and dined on pizza for dinner.

Father's Day: The Morning

Father's Day morning, Maddie took great care signing and decorating cards from her and Sophie. Then we delivered them, along with coffee, to Daddy who was under strict orders to stay in bed!

Happy Anniversary

Kent and I celebrated our seventh wedding anniversary this weekend. FYI, we will have been together for 15 years this fall, now that is impressive!. Grandma Connie generously agreed to babysit our girls while Kent and I went out, that's right, all by OURSELVES! What a treat! We went to our favorite Mexican restaurant and enjoyed dinner on the patio. We were scolded when we returned home at 8:30, but we had been gone for three whole hours, and at the end of the day, we love being home with our family!

We took pictures of each other at dinner. Silly, but whatever.

Bubbles

Sophie had her first experience with bubbles thanks to Grandma. She has an amazing amount of stamina when it comes to entertaining our kids.

Santa Monica

Grandma Connie arrived last Thursday for a fun filled (packed) weekend: Father's Day activities, anniversaries, and graduation events. We took her to Santa Monica on Saturday for a walk and a little shopping.

Slip and Slide

Ethan invited Maddie over earlier this month to try out the slip and slide she gave him for his birthday. The sliding part turned out to be a bit difficult, but as you can see, both girls clearly had a good time!

An early Father's Day gift for an incredible father. I hope you enjoy it.

Saturday

I went to dinner this evening with two of my girlfriends. While we get together frequently with our kids, going out without them is pretty rare. I had a great time, and the kids had fun with Daddy, too. It looks like they must have played pretty hard while I was away because they are down for the count!

Eight Months and Counting

Sophie is eight months old! She is starting to crawl; she can get up on her hands and knees, but only goes backwards. She likes to feed herself and eats some table foods: bananas, peas, and carrots. She's a great sleeper, but an early riser. She is looking forward to spending a lot of time with her mommy this summer, only 10 more days of the school year!

Sophie Loves Barney

Sophie loves Barney, or at least this Barney book.

Park #2

After feeding the ducks, we went to a second park where the girls could play. Maddie requested I post this picture of her looking like a monkey.

Sophie apparently likes the park swing as much as the one in our yard. Here you can see her two little teeth.
